King County Medical Examiner’s Office has teamed up with Othram Labs to try to raise funds to do DNA testing on the Mary Anderson case. They’d like to get a DNA profile on her so we can load it up to GEDmatch and do forensic genealogy on the kit. We think there’s a good chance we could get her IDed through genealogy. She’s got to have family out there somewhere. With the millions of people who have taken home DNA tests, putting her kit in GEDmatch should result in several matches of relatives for her. Building out the trees and matching up where they intersect should narrow down who this unknown woman was. With enough relatives (even distant relatives) who already have their DNA online, we should be able to find her and get her home. **UPDATE** this has been fully funded through an anonymous donor, so DNA testing will be going forward.
